Small is the seed

Small is the seed is a song about the boundless potential within each and every one of us. Bringing to life the words of poet Emily Patterson, it explores how even the smallest things—a seed, a drop of rain, a single voice—can grow into something extraordinary. Musically, the piece mirrors this journey of growth, beginning with a quiet-yet-lively energy that slowly builds to a bold and celebratory conclusion.

This work was commissioned by Manhattan Concert Productions for their Youth Choir Series and premiered at Carnegie Hall on June 24th, 2025.
