GENERAL
How do you pronounce your last name?
- Gimon (Ґімон) is a Ukrainian last name that has become anglicized in Katerina's family's pronunciation:
- Gimon rhymes with "pigeon" and begins with a hard "g" (as in the word "give").
- Phonetic: GIH-min. IPA: gɪ.mɪn.
How do I let you know about a performance?
- Thanks for asking! This is encouraged and appreciated. The best way to let me know by filling out my Performance Notification form.
Do you do clinics/workshops/etc?
- Yes! I offer virtual and in-person clinics, workshops, masterclasses, and more. Please check out my page here for more information.
Do you offer dealer discounts?
- Yes, I offer a standard dealer discount for my self-published music. Please contact me with your request.
LICENSING
I’d like to distribute an AUDIO recording of your music. What do I need to do?
- What you need is a mechanical license from the copyright owner. (This is needed for distribution of CDs, digital files, practice tracks, etc. whether for sale or for free). Who you need to get in touch with to arrange a license depends on the piece and who is the copyright holder for that work. Generally, this would either be me or the publisher of that composition.
- If I'm the rights holder (i.e. all my self-published music, including music distributed by Graphite Marketplace, MusicSpoke, and Canadian Music Centre):
- Please contact SOCAN RR (previously SODRAC) to arrange a mechanical license by emailing [email protected] with your request.
- If the publisher is the rights holder (i.e. Cypress Choral Music, Hal Leonard, Oxford Music Publishing, Hinshaw Music):
- Please contact them directly (see the link under "Licensing" on the webpage for that composition on my site).

- If I'm the rights holder (i.e. all my self-published music, including music distributed by Graphite Marketplace, MusicSpoke, and Canadian Music Centre):
- Regardless of the above...if you're recording my music I'd also love to know so I can listen and spread the word! ☺
I’d like to distribute a VIDEO recording of your music. What do I need?
- What you need is a sync license from the copyright owner. This is needed for posting live or recorded performances online (i.e. YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook), creating DVDs, etc. If you are live-streaming and the performance will not be archived online afterward this is not applicable (please see the next question instead).
- Please get in touch with SOCAN Sync to arrange a license by emailing [email protected] with your request.
- NOTE: If you're posting a performance online for FREE (YouTube, etc.) you may contact me instead for a PWYC / sliding-scale sync license (suggested $25 - $150). For any income-generating content or any other scenarios please get in touch with SOCAN Sync instead.
- If the publisher is the rights holder (i.e. Cypress Choral Music, Hal Leonard, Oxford Music Publishing, Hinshaw Music):
- Please contact them directly at the link under "Licensing" on the webpage for that composition on my site.

I want to STREAM a live performance of your music. What do I need?
- Streaming a live concert or hosting a hybrid event (i.e. live & virtual guests) are both considered public performances, so you should license your performance with a Performing Rights Organization (PRO) like SOCAN or ASCAP. Please note however, if this performance will be archived online afterward, you will need a sync license in addition to your performance license (see previous question for more about this). Either way, I suggest emailing [email protected] (put “Online Concert” in the subject line) as they can help you make sure everything is licensed properly for these types of situations.
- If you are live-streaming a performance of my music I'd also love to know so I can spread the word and possibly tune in ☺
I want to discuss licensing your work for a type of usage not described here. Who do I contact?
- If I'm the rights holder (i.e. all my self-published music, including music distributed by Graphite Marketplace, MusicSpoke, and Canadian Music Centre):
- Please contact me to discuss.
- If the publisher is the rights holder (i.e. Cypress Choral Music, Hal Leonard, Oxford Music Publishing, Hinshaw Music):

How do I determine who holds the copyright for a composition?
- Visit the webpage for that composition on my site and see who is listed under "Licensing" (in the grey box on the right side). You can also find copyright holder indicated on the bottom of the first page of the musical score.
